What is microshading?

Microshading and microblading are procedures done by a cosmetic technician. They involve tattooing semi-permanent makeup into your eyebrows to better define their shape and volume. Microshading adds shape to your brow and creates the appearance of a filled-out brow. It’s ideal for people with sensitive or oily skin.

What is the difference between microshading and microblading?

Microshading uses tiny dots of pigmentation to fill in your brows using pigment ink and a handheld tool. It gives you fuller, thicker-looking brows with a powdery look. The results last three to six months. Microblading uses a bladed needle to create hair-like strokes of pigment that look like natural eyebrow hair. The pigment is placed underneath the skin. With microblading, you can change the shape of your brows as well as fill them in. The finish appears lighter than with microshading. The results of microblading last six to eight months. Microblading mimics the look of real hair, giving you an exceptionally natural look. If you’ve lost much of your brow due to over-tweezing, skin conditions, or hormone irregularities, microblading can recreate their shape and fullness.

What are the benefits of microshading?

Microshading and microblading give you full, beautiful eyebrows for the long term. You don’t have to worry about filling them in daily with makeup. Fuller, more defined eyebrows help you appear expressive and beautiful. You also don’t have to worry about what your eyebrows look like after a shower, swim, or sweaty workout. They appear perfect even when you first wake up in the morning. Microblading and microshading look natural, so you never have to worry about “overdoing” your brows or misshaping them.

How often should I have microshading?

Microshading and microblading are semi-permanent, so you do need touch-ups every few months. Microblading lasts about twice as long as microshading. When you come in for your appointment, talk to your technician about what to expect regarding lasting results. They can help you determine how often to schedule appointments.
